Yarn Closet, Part Two

And here we have my yarn closet. This isn’t all of my yarn…all of the Noro is under my bed.

The saddest part about the yarn closet is that I didn’t even think of it…I was going to leave the yarn in bins under the bed…and then the suggestion for the yarn closet was made and I couldn’t help myself.

If I didn’t have all sorts of office supplies in need of a home, only yarn and knitting supplies would have lived in this closet. So technically this is the yarn/office supply closet.

My new apartment…

It’ll look a little more interesting once I get around to hanging posters and pictures. Maybe next week. Maybe not.

It’s a cute little apartment. Not too tiny. But definitely not big. It is actually part of a house converted into 4 apartments. I occupy half of the second floor.

I also can’t really complain about the size of the kitchen. My old apartment’s kitchen was tiny. Practically the size of a closet. This is much better…my table fits in it. Yes, we did have to take the table apart and take the door off the hinges to get the table into the kitchen. But that’s totally beside the point.

That’s a quote from Jeremy, my brother-in-law after completing his tour of my new apartment. He’s right…it does have more character. And an awesome old sink. I’ll have to take a good picture of how deep one side of it is. It’s huge!

Anyway, Flickr is being slow…I’m trying to upload pictures of the apartment (Alison requested them well over a week ago and I just now got around to taking them) and it’s taking forever and ever for a single picture to upload. Boo.

Finally, some of them are uploaded. I’ll post another blog entry in a minute with a picture of the apartment stuff.

Tonight is the very first night since I moved into the apartment that I haven’t had a guest over after work. It’s kind of strange as I haven’t gotten used to living alone yet…despite living here for 2 1/2 weeks. But the quiet is okay…I put in a good movie (Love Actually) and watched half of it. I knit a little bit on the nearly forgotten Wicked sweater. And then I started taking weirdo apartment pictures. Soon I’ll go to sleep…and at a reasonable hour no less.

Wow, a lot has changed in my life in the last 16 days.

First, I found an apartment of my own. I am no longer living over my boyfriend’s parent’s garage with only a minute amount of my belongings.

Second, the boyfriend is no longer the boyfriend. This event did coincide with the move to my own apartment.

There is a third part but I don’t feel right discussing it here just yet. It’s a very good third part…you’ll have to ask me personally for the third part.

The apartment is good. Cute and full of my belongings. I get to sit on my couch and loveseat again. I get to stare at my books and watch my DVDs. I’m typing on my computer at my desk. I get to sleep in my bed. My wonderful bed with the new frame and the nearly new mattress I bought last year and only slept on a handful of times. I get to cook again. Last week I made enchiladas and realized it was the first time I’d cooked a full dinner myself since last fall!

Everything is unpacked. All I have left to do is the hanging of pictures and posters.

I feel good. Better than I have in a long time. Work is pretty good as well…I’m not letting it stress me out too much right now…I’m too busy being happy with the non-work aspects of my life for the first time in at least a few months.

I made dinner again tonight…just because I could. I also made S’mores Bars…which I hadn’t baked in at least 5 years. I can’t wait to eat them tomorrow.

The sisters and I (and some boys) are going to see They Might Be Giants in Charlottesville next Tuesday…and then it’s my birthday next Wednesday. This should be a good week.

Sadly I’ve barely knit since the move. But I do have a small closet that is half devoted to yarn storage. It has lovingly been dubbed the “Yarn Closet” and it wasn’t even my idea. I’ll take a picture of it soon. I’ll make more time for the knitting soon as well…now that I’m mostly settled in here.
