I made dessert a couple of times while on vacation. First I made creme brulees…mostly for a girl from work leaving town. She loves my creme brulee.
Then I decided to make tiramisu. This is only my second attempt at homemade. The first time was good but not great. It was too dry. And didn’t have very much liquor. I also remember it being a pain in my ass the first time. That may have been partially due to it being the very first thing I made when I got my Kitchenaid mixer years ago?
At any rate, it wasn’t a pain this time and I plan to make it again much more often. Trader Joe’s carries the marscapone cheese pretty cheap and the ladyfingers are easy…especially with the boyfriend’s pastry bag. Yes, he has his own pastry bag.
This time I came close to overcompensating with the liquor and it was worth it. Yes, I did have to pour some liquid out of the pan after a couple of days…but that’s okay. The mix of coffee liqueur, chocolate liqueur and triple sec with loads of espresso was fantastic.
I felt a little guilty yesterday when I started eating it directly out of the pan. But then I looked at the pan and realized that the boyfriend may have been doing the same thing…who needs a bowl?
It’s nearly gone. I think it’s the boyfriend’s turn to make dessert. He suggested that he might make coconut cream pie. With a chocolate crust. Yummers!
Despite all of these desserts, I seem to be still losing weight. A loss that’s noticeable to people. Whatever it is I’m doing, I need to keep at it.
